ART 626 Week 13

This week I will be shooting more images and getting the final images shot for the final project.  I will continue to shoot the body as landscapes vertically and try out some different angles and see how moving the light around affects the image as well.  I will also be editing the images and looking at which ones will go well with the panoramic that I have already been working at piecing together.  It has been fun getting to see the body in a new way and get to watch this project evolve from last semester to where it is now.  During these week I might explore and see if there is anything else that I can think of to push the body as a landscape further.

ART 626 Week 12

This week, I am going to be shooting some more images vertically and just getting more variety of images.  I put up images in the gallery for my B.F.A. show this morning and so, I will have some more time to create new images and do some more editing.  It was a lot of fun getting to see how gallery was set up and displayed and getting to see the work that went into getting a show ready for people to see.  I will also be working on finishing up the final draft of my artist statement and getting the final draft finished.

ART 626 Week 11

This week I will be preparing for my show, which is next week.  I will be finishing up the final editing on my images and then will start to print my images tomorrow.  After I print each of my images I will be trimming off the extra paper on all sides of my images so it will just be the image that is shown.  My images in the show will be vertical and will be printed on 13x19 Pictorico Pro Hi-Gloss White film.  I will be hanging my work in the gallery with magnets and there will be 10-12 images that I will be showing.

ART 626 Week 10

This week I will be finalizing what kind of paper I will be using in my BFA show, how big the images should be and how the work will be hung in the gallery.  I will also be making some more images and shooting them vertically to see if that changes anything with how the image looks.  A lot of what this week I will be picking images and seeing which ones go together.  I will also be looking at which panoramic image I should have in the BFA show.  This week I will also be preparing my presentation to give to the photo I class as well.

ART 626 Week 9

This week I will be printing on some different types of paper and figuring out which one I should use for my BFA show in a couple of weeks.  I will also be looking at different ways of how I could hang my work since I don't think I will be using frames.  I will also be taking more pictures and shooting vertical to see what that does to the images and see if that looks better.  I will also be editing and getting more images to line up next to each other to create the panoramic.  Hopefully by the end of this week, I will have a more clear idea of what I will be having in my BFA show.

ART 626 Week 8

This past couple of weeks I have been working on arranging pictures to make one panoramic image.  I have gotten a couple of them arranged and I really like the way that they are looking.  I like being able to look at the different images as a whole, but am also able to look an an image individually.  I also got the chance to experience with different models and see if there was any difference in the way the pictures turned out or if they were still pretty much the same.  This week I am going to be primarily focusing on figuring out what size of paper to print on so I can get frames ordered.  I printed images on different types of paper and so figuring out which one looks the best and which one I should use will also be something I will be figuring out this week.

ART 626 Week 7

This week I am going to be trying out different kinds of papers and seeing what type of paper would work best for my project.  I have a sample pack of paper that I am going to try out this week.  I am also going to be taking some pictures of some different people as well of different ages and seeing if that makes any difference or if there is anything unique about having different ages of people.  I plan to do this over spring break as well.  My idea is to connect different images together where they meet at the end.  I don't know if the images should all be in a straight line or if they could be a different heights.  It would be kinda like a panoramic image.

ART 626 Week 6

This week I am going to continue to work on the things that I did last week.  I am going to continue to see what things I like and what things I don't like.  I will be continuing to add flour and now corn starch on the painted body and see what the results are.  I have really liked what I have been getting from the flour and the texture that it adds to the image is really nice.  This week I hope to also paint more some different parts of the body and explore more with the looks interesting and what does not. I hope to also use some other models and see if their is any difference in what the results look like or not.

ART 626 Week 5

This past week, I was able to experiment with flour in my images and I am pleases with the way that they turned out.  It adds some different textures and unique shapes that weren't there before.  I also painted different parts of the leg and switched up the direction of the strobe light to see how that would change the image.  This week I hope to do some focus stacking on some of the images and see how that turns out and also seeing what corn starch will do in the pictures.  I hope to continue to play with the strobe light, whether that is making it go faster or slower or by positioning it in different places.

ART 626 Week 4

This week, I am going to be trying out some different things and getting to show some different angles and lighting positions.  I also hope to paint some more parts of the body and show some different perspectives and see if I can make the work more abstract.  I hope to shoot a couple of times this week.  I am also going to see what changing the focus when I am taking the picture does to the images and see if that adds anything different to the pictures.  I might try to combine two of the images together ands see what that ends up looking like.  I hope to try new things this week and see how I can make the body even more abstract through photography.  Here are some images that I found after doing some research.

ART 626 Week 3

This week I forced on moving in closer to the body with my camera.  I like the closeness of these images because even with just a little range of motion you can still see the movement even though it isn't something major.  I worked on getting pictures from many different angles to see what that would do with the images and I think it turned out pretty good.  Next week, I plan to paint more of the body and get some different shots.  I have also thought about adding some flour on top of the paint and seeing what kind of images I would get from that and seeing if that would be something interesting to look out.

ART626 Week 2

I took some pictures over this week and I just shot more movement of the body.  The images I have here aren't edited, but are straight from the camera.  I had the model move towards the camera at different times and then I would move the camera at times when the model was moving also.  I hadn't really experimented with this technique yet, and so I thought I would try it out and see how I liked it. I really liked it and I am going to continue to explore the different movements that I can move the camera while the body is moving as well. I like how it is a little more abstract and you can't tell exactly what is moving in the image at first.

ART626 Week 1

I am going to continue off of my project that I did last semester in ART626 which was about the movement of the body.  The pictures that I created were in black and white and were shot with my DSLR.  I had my model wear white clothing and then I shot her movement in front of a black backdrop and then later on I ended up painting her skin white to show the textures of the body in the photograph as well.

My inspiration for the work that I am doing came from seeing Harold E. Edgerton's photographs of movement that he did.  He did a lot of things with movement and this photograph below is where I got a lot of my inspiration from.  I also looked at Muybridge's horse movement studies as well and got to see another way to show movement through motion.
